Duck pond pier
Latest Development at Dunedin Botanic Garden
opened in December 2016
The 6 by 6 metre pier adds a quiet, intimate retreat to the popular visitor precinct, opening up access to the water’s edge.
Positioned just above the water, the concrete structure is designed to appear to lightly float over the surface.
Simple, durable materials blend with existing facilities - hardwood, local gravel and paving materials.
The Friends of Dunedin Botanic Garden funded the project to celebrate their 30th birthday.
The pier links the Clive Lister Garden and the Woorm Plaza.
The view from the pier is primo, every season. Existing cabbage trees will be kept, where possible, and new plants added.
